Germany – Sudan and South Sudan Business Day

Photo_from_January_Sudan_Southsudan_Business_Forum3The Germany – Sudan and South Sudan Business Day held on 29th January 2013 at the Federal Foreign Office was organized by the German Federal Foreign Office, the German-African Business Association (Afrika-Verein) and the Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. High-ranking delegates from the Republic of South Sudan, the Republic of Sudan, as well as the Federal Republic of Germany attended the event. The German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, H. E. Dr. Guido Westerwelle, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan, H.E Ali Ahmed Karti, as well as H. E. Ambassador Sitona Abdalla Osman, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan to Germany were present during this trilateral meeting. The conference was also attended by Ministry officials, representatives from German, South Sudanese and Sudanese companies, as well as representatives from the private sector.

The aim of the conference was to support the African Union-mediated peace process between theRepublic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan, and to boost the international efforts for the peace process between the two countries, while at the same time enhancing business cooperation.
