LONG NIGHT OF THE SCIENCES (LANGE NACHT DER WISSENSCHAFTEN) IN BERLIN

LONG NIGHT OF THE SCIENCES (LANGE NACHT DER WISSENSCHAFTEN) IN BERLIN

On 11 June, 2016, more than 70 universities, research institutes, universities of applied science, and technology-oriented companies in Berlin and Potsdam opened their doors for the Long night of the Sciences in Berlin (Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften).

This annual event, now in its 16th year, allows to take a look at the diverse worlds of science and research. Thousands of researchers were ready to answer questions and discuss their current work. The visitors further had the opportunity to enjoy experiments, lectures, science shows and guided tours through normally inaccessible laboratories.

As the organizers felt that that some visitors may be curious about South Sudan, the youngest nation on earth, they judged it beneficial to have a presentation on South Sudan and invited H.E. Sitona Abdalla Osman to the event to deliver a presentation.

H.E. Sitona Abdalla Osman used the opportunity to inform the visitors about South Sudan and to promote the positive image of the country. As part of her presentation a movie about South Sudan was shown to the audience in which the investment opportunities as well as the potential for tourism in the country were displayed.

The presentation was received very positively by the audience and extended the knowledge of the visitors about South Sudan.
