THE 53RD MUNICH SECURITY CONFERENCE FROM 17TH UNTIL 19TH FEBRUARY 2017
A Delegation of the Republic of South Sudan headed by First Vice-President, H.E. Taban Deng Gai, the Presidential Advisor, Hon. Tor Deng Mawien Bak and Minister of Defense General Koul Manyang Jok, attended the 53rd edition of the annual Munich Security Conference which took place from 17th until 19th February 2017 in Munich, Germany. H.E. Ambassador Sitona Abdalla Osman accompanied the delegation in Munich and arranged different bilateral meetings.
This Year’s Munich Security Conference once again stood out as the premier international gathering of national security policymakers and thinkers. The conference has grown over the years from a wonky gathering of transatlantic specialists to a star-studded foreign policy festival with the likes of Bill Gates and Bono, this year’s conference has acquired the utmost significance. Even the title of the Munich Security Report 2017, “Post-truth, post-west, post-order?” which was presented prior to the conference, reflected the complexity of the challenges confronting the international community.
